Menu Plan Monday (19th May 2012 - 25th May 2012)

Ok so it's time for the House of Murray to get back into planning and being organised especially when it comes to healthy eating and menu planning.  I have decided it's also high time for me to get back onto my weight loss journey - yes the one that I started many moons ago.  One that means the whole house would benefit from such an action.....

So here is this week's menu plan for our house:

Saturday ~ Fish, Cauliflower and Broccoli Cheese and vegetables
Sunday ~  Roast lamb, potatoes and vegetables with gravy and mint sauce
Monday ~  Slow-cooked Sticky Pork with Steamed Asian Greens
Tue ~ Lamb Stew with Crusty Bread
Wed ~ Middle Eastern Beef Meatballs
Thu ~ Curried Lamb Pie
Fri ~ Fettucine Marinara

Baking ~ Bacon and Corn Polenta Muffins

Menu planning plays a major roll in our life! By menu planning it ensures that we have a weeks worth of meals organised which is especially useful Monday through Friday when there is not much of the day left after finishing work, picking up the kids from school and having to deal with the tasks of homework, clothes washing, showers, etc., and to do without the hassle of worrying WHAT we are cooking for dinner each night. Honestly if I left deciding what’s for dinner until I go home we wouldn’t eat until midnight!!

I know that our week starts on a Saturday but that’s just for the ease of fitting in with my grocery shopping which is normally done on a Friday night or Saturday afternoon. As usual more great menu ideas can be found at Menu Plan Monday over at I’m An Organising Junkie, don’t be shy pop over and have a look at other’s menu plans. You never know you may just find something different to have for dinner.

Some recipes for things we cook can be found over at our cooking blog, A Dash Of Flavour, normally posted after they have been cooked or just click on the links for each meal when they appear.

Happy cooking,

Menu Plan Monday (21st May 2012 - 27th May 2012)

It's been a long time between posting Menu Plan Monday here - in fact my posting has been so irregular it's quite embarrassing.  To be honest we have been so busy especially me with my work and travelling that some weeks we plan and others we have been flying by the seat of our pants.

However I decided it was time to get back to routine not only for being organised but it actually makes full sense considering how busy we actually are.

So here is this week's menu plan for our house:

Saturday ~ Roast Beef with Yorkshire Puddings, Vegetables and Gravy
Sunday ~ Roast Beef Rolls with Gravy
Monday ~ Beef with Kaffir Lime, Snow Peas and Cherry Tomatoes
Tue ~ Kasturi Indian Restaurant for Noel's Birthday
Wed ~ Pork, Mushroom and Sage Lasagne
Thu ~ Curried Chicken Pie
Fri ~ Salami, Capsicum and Feta Frittata and salad

Menu planning plays a major roll in our life! By menu planning it ensures that we have a weeks worth of meals organised which is especially useful Monday through Friday when there is not much of the day left after finishing work, picking up the kids from school and having to deal with the tasks of homework, clothes washing, showers, etc., and to do without the hassle of worrying WHAT we are cooking for dinner each night. Cannot believe another week is nearly over and once again I am late posting our weekly menu.  We have been busy both on the work/school front as well as the personal side.  At the moment we are getting ready to go camping on the Melbourne Cup Long Weekend.... not only are we finding all of our camping bits and bobs but also trying to find a nice bush location to camp that is not full of motorbike riders, yobbo's or still recovering from the bush fires.

Saying this - here is what's on this week's menu:

Saturday ~ Kasturi Indian Restaurant Frankston
Sunday ~ Chargrilled T Bone Steaks with Coconut Chilli Sauce
Monday ~ Slow Cooked Cider and Herb Braised Beef Ribs
Tue ~ Oven bake fish and chips
Wed ~ Chicken with Prosciutto, Blue Cheese and Semi Dried Tomatoes

WOW I cannot believe it's been so long since I put up our menu planner.  It's not that we haven't been menu planning because we have otherwise we just wouldn't be feeding the family as I have mentioned over the last few months we have just been so busy especially me with working away from home.

Menu Plan Monday 7th May - 13th May

The routine is back and we are cooking - mostly healthy which is what we are always aiming for. Now that Noel's mad work hours have ceased and he is working regular days he too wants to get our routine back and has admitted to missing cooking! Saying this no doubt I will have to travel with work soon.

This week's menu planner starts of a little differently with a friends 40th on the Saturday night and then Mother's Day on the Sunday. Noel and the kids took me out for dinner to a chinese restaurant in Langwarrin, which was really nice to just sit and relax and enjoy each other's company.

Saturday ~ 40th Birthday Party
Sunday ~ Delight Inn, Langwarrin
Monday ~ Afgani Lamb and Spinach Curry, Steamed Rice
Tue ~ Baked Mediterranean Chicken

Menu Plan Monday 16th April 2011 - 22nd April 2011

LOL I find it funny that I am motivated to menu plan this week considering we are going away on Friday to Sydney for the Easter weekend. But I really wanted to get back into some normality and somehow menu planning does make me feel there is an air of normal around the house.

Menu Plan Monday (22nd Jan - 28th Jan)

Last week we had a huge spanner thrown into the works with Noel losing his job - this week and here on in until he finds employment we really need to pull in our purse strings and budget/plan properly.

Thankfully though, we have a huge freezer which is full of meat etc so eating through that shouldn't be a problem and thankfully with the 52 weeks of Organizing challenge our kitchen cupboards have been sorted and I now know what is in the pantry, more importantly I now know what I don't need to buy each week!!!

Menu Plan Monday (20th November ~ 26th November)

OMG - wonders will never cease to amaze me.... it's Monday and I am actually posting a Menu Plan Monday post!!!

I realise it's been a couple of weeks since I posted but I have been travelling around country Victoria on my training mission. I have cooked here and there but to be honest it's pointless of me to menu plan when I am away as hubby and the kids normally fend for themselves in the kitchen. I have planned meals for them in the past only to come home to find the ingredients etc still in the fridge so I just don't go there anymore.

I am home this week which is a little exciting as I can play in the kitchen again!! Sad really getting excited about cooking but I cannot help it. I guess there are worse things to get excited about though?

On the House of Murray Menu Planner this week is:

Dinners:

Saturday ~ Vespa's Restaurant, Carrum Downs
Sunday ~ Toasted sandwiches
Monday ~ Chargrilled Steak, Baked Potatoes with Sour Cream, Salad and Creamy Blue Cheese Sauce
Tue ~ Sage and Garlic Pork with Apple, Creamy Potato Bake
Wed ~ Chicken Saagwala and Steamed Rice
Fri ~ Beef Fajitas with Corn Salsa and Salad

Baking:
Christmas Pudding

As you have probably gathered by now, I LIVE for menu planning!

Menu Plan Monday (16th October ~ 22nd October)

Our menu this week started off with a feast to mark Pam and Dennis last night with us. Starting with some fresh seafood and then some Kangaroo Fillets followed by a huge cheese platter, their first time trying it which Dennis enjoyed but Pam wasn't that fussed. It is a stronger taste than beef etc but it was good that they were both happy to give it a go.

With it only being a few weeks until Christmas I need to pull my finger out with some baking and also stick to our menu plan which is based on low fat cooking. God knows I need to combat all our upcoming social events.

On the House of Murray Menu Planner this week is:

Dinners:

Saturday ~ Family Feast (oysters, prawns, kangaroo fillets, etc - for full menu read previous post or click here)
Sunday ~ dinner at a Thai Restaurant
Monday ~ Roasted Lamb Chops, Mashed Potatoes, Steamed Vegetables, Gravy and Mint Jelly
Tue ~ Slow Cooked Pork and Sweet Potato Casserole
Wed ~ Spaghetti Bolognaise, Garlic and Cheese Bread
Thu ~ Chicken and Macadamia Stirfry with Steamed Rice
Fri ~ Curried Lamb and Couscous Filo Rolls with salad

Baking:
Mixed Chocolate Chip Muffins

As you have probably gathered by now, I LIVE for menu planning!

Menu Plan Monday (9th October - 15th October)

Busy busy busy is the best way to describe us at the moment...... the weekend disappeared as usual with Megan and Rob's wedding, shopping, visiting friends and cleaning. Hence my menu plan Monday is now being posted on Tuesday!

The wedding was beautiful as was the food. The kids spent the evening at Vera's house which was a blessing as our babysitter cancelled early Friday morning.

As of today, Tuesday, my cousins Dennis and Pam are coming to stay with us for about a week. They are from Wales and are currently travelling around Australia. They have already been up to see my mam in Queensland so it's our turn now. I am really looking forward to seeing them as I think it's been about 11 years since they last came out to visit.

Anyway here are the meals we have planned this week:

Dinners:

Saturday ~ Megan and Rob's Wedding/Kids at Vera's
Sunday ~ Thai Pork Wraps with Satay Sauce
Monday ~ Pesto Fettucine with Chicken and Zucchini, Garlic Bread
Tue ~ Chargrilled Scotch Fillet, Creamy Peppercorn Sauce, Rosemary Smashed Potatoes, Roasted Cherry Tomatoes and Vegetables
Wed ~ Baked Lemon Chicken with Proscuitto and Fresh Herbs
Thu ~ Pork Tikka Masala with Steamed Rice
Fri ~ Out for dinner with Dennis and Pam

Baking:
Hummingbird Cake

Menu Plan Monday (2nd October ~ 8th October)

Well once again the week started with a busy weekend.... so busy we had takeaway and then ate out the next day. Must stop doing this as it's no good for my waist nor my wallet but it is good fun!!

Eggs, Beans and Chips must be had this week otherwise Alex is going to scream - I have planned it for the last 3 weeks and she is loving the idea especially as Mam is going to cook chips - something that rarely happens and when it does they are healthy oven baked! In fact I think the dish is making my mouth water also as I was arguing yesterday that it should be on this weeks menu and we have been putting it off for weeks.... LOL!!!

The other thing that keeps getting put off is baking. It's something that Alex really enjoys doing with me and I have to say I enjoy spending the girly time together also. With us being busy most of the time it always gets put on the back burner and then sadly, never done. I have to make it a priority but it is hard as I myself am not a huge sweet lover.

Anyway here are the meals we have planned this week:

Dinners:
Saturday ~ Take Away Pizza
Sunday ~ Late lunch at New Graziers Steakhouse, Stamford Inn
Monday ~ Eggs, Beans and Chips... yummm
Tue ~ Barbecue Mustard Veal Cutlets, Roasted Cherry Tomatoes and Vegetables
Fri ~ Tandoori Chicken and Rice High Pie

Baking:
Nothing planned for this week
