Menu Plan Monday 7th May - 13th May

The routine is back and we are cooking - mostly healthy which is what we are always aiming for. Now that Noel's mad work hours have ceased and he is working regular days he too wants to get our routine back and has admitted to missing cooking! Saying this no doubt I will have to travel with work soon.

This week's menu planner starts of a little differently with a friends 40th on the Saturday night and then Mother's Day on the Sunday. Noel and the kids took me out for dinner to a chinese restaurant in Langwarrin, which was really nice to just sit and relax and enjoy each other's company.

So on the House of Murray Menu Planner this week is:

Saturday ~ 40th Birthday Party
Sunday ~ Delight Inn, Langwarrin
Monday ~ Afgani Lamb and Spinach Curry, Steamed Rice
Tue ~ Baked Mediterranean Chicken
Wed ~ Baked Pasta Fritatta
Thu ~ Sticky Pork
Fri ~ Steak with Creamy Tarragon Sauce and Steamed Vegetables

Baking:
Hummingbird Muffins

As you have probably gathered by now, I LIVE for menu planning! By menu planning it ensures that we have a weeks worth of meals organised which is especially useful Monday through Friday when there is not much of the day left after finishing work, picking up the kids from school and having to deal with the tasks of homework, clothes washing, showers, etc., and to do without the hassle of worrying WHAT we are cooking for dinner each night. Honestly if I left deciding what’s for dinner until I go home we wouldn’t eat until midnight!!

I know that our week starts on a Saturday but that’s just for the ease of fitting in with my grocery shopping which is normally done on a Friday night or Saturday afternoon. As usual more great menu ideas can be found at Menu Plan Monday over at I’m An Organising Junkie, don’t be shy pop over and have a look at other’s menu plans. You never know you may just find something different to have for dinner.

Some recipes for things we cook can be found over at our cooking blog, A Dash Of Flavour, normally posted after they have been cooked or just click on the links for each meal when they appear.

Happy cooking,

Jo xx

Menu Plan Monday (11th Sept ~ 17th Sept)

I am hoping that I can stay home this week and this week and actually cook something. We have been very busy lately and the menu planning has definitely been absent from our house. With a bit of luck this week will be settled and we can resume some normality!!

So, here it is... our menu plan for the week:

Saturday ~ Mustard Marinated Kangaroo, Mashed Sweet Potato and Vegetables
Sunday ~ Thai Mussels
Monday ~ Beef Tacos and Buritos
Tue ~ Tandoori Chicken Parcels and Salad
Thu ~ Pork Canneloni with salad
Fri ~ Fish and Homemade Chips

Menu Plan Monday ~ 10th April to 16th April 2010

As you have probably gathered by now, I LIVE for menu planning! By menu planning it ensures that we have a weeks worth of meals organised which is especially useful Monday through Friday when there is not much of the day left after finishing work, picking up the kids from school and having to deal with the tasks of homework, clothes washing, showers, etc., and to do without the hassle of worrying WHAT we are cooking for dinner each night. This week marks the return of some normality in the house with school resuming today. However it's also such a busy week for us also. I have a Committee Meeting Tuesday night and the kids have an extra training session on Tuesday also as we have two members from the St Kilda football club coming down to do some drills with the younger kids and also have a chat with the older players to give them some game play tips, encouragement etc. Not sure who the players are just yet - we are actually hoping to find out today. I have a few other things going on as well after work. As usual tonight is weigh-in night at Weight Watchers and as usual I don't want to go!! Then I have an appointment on Thursday night and before we know it the weekend will be upon us.

Having a lot of trouble sticking with our planned menu's lately - hoping we can do better this week as we have some delish meals on the menu:

Sunday ~ Pasta with Fresh Tomato Sauce
Monday ~ Braised Steak and Vegetables Pot Pies
Tue ~ Pork Apple and Thyme Meatballs with Pasta
Wed ~ Sweet and Spicy Chicken with Steamed Rice and Vegetables
Thu ~ Veal with Tomato and Spinach, Potatoes and Steamed Vegetables
Fri ~ Seafood and Vegetable Parcels

Normality - does it exist at our house?

Well as I mentioned my Mam returned to Brisbane yesterday and I already miss her!! Now that she has gone, it's back to just the four of us being at home and settling back into our routine, our ways of doing things, our little world!

I wouldn't really say that the house has officially returned to normality! Although many of our friends would never put "The Murray Family" and "normality" in the same sentence as we tend to do things differently to most. But we enjoy the way we are dealing with this thing called life ensuring that the obvious gets done and more importantly fun is had!

Another couple of weeks of school holidays to survive and Noel hasn't returned back to work yet as his holidays finish on the 27th. The kids will spend a few days up with their Nana and Grandad at the end of January and then 1st of February sees the start of the school year.

During the next two weeks we will be getting ready for the start of school, getting books organised and buying uniforms, etc.

A couple of weekends left to have lots of fun, including going to the Balnarring Picnic Races on Australia Day for the Balnarring Cup!!
